An international firm was yesterday charged in court for copyright infringement.

The court heard that the company allegedly infringed the copyright of computer software companies such as Adobe, Autodesk, Macromedia, Microsoft and Symantec.

This is the first time a local company belonging to an international group has been charged with copyright infringement here.
Last year, a local interior design firm became the first company to be charged with the same offence. The company was fined $30,000.
The latest case has been adjourned and will be heard again on Sept 11.

We Survived the Mizuno Wave Run 2007!!
AAAArrrrgghh!!! We were late and unexpectedly huge crowd turn-up made it even challenging for us to locate our already waiting SRUG members. Despite all the set backs, we managed to completed the 5km Fun Run while our boss Mark and partner Lawrence completed the 10km Competitive Run. It wasn't the best organized run despite having a well known brand like Mizuno as the main sponsor, nevertheless we still had a great run.

Consultancy firm raided for using unlicensed software
SINGAPORE: Police have raided a land surveying consultancy firm as they have reason to believe that the company was using unlicensed software.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off from Singapore's Business Software Alliance (BSA).
The raided firm is believed to have installed unlicensed Adobe, Microsoft and Autodesk software.
10 allegedly pirated CDs and 27 computers were seized.
The total market value of the goods seized is estimated to be
S$180,000.
Under the Copyright Act, first-time offenders who commit copyright infringement for commercial advantage face a maximum fine of S$20,000.
